Great place for a rave but sound quality isn't fantastic
Motion is located behind Temple Meads train station, an unlikely location for a nightclub, but then I guess Motion isn't your normal nightclub. In fact it’s not a nightclub at all, its a skate park. This is pretty obvious when you arrive at the venue due to the skate ramps still remaining at the sides of the main room.

It doesn't feel like the venue was designed for large scale music events. The cloak room queue can be pretty massive and often gets too full and closes, in the winter you're going to need to dance to keep warm, if you want to use the toilets you're better of using their outside portaloos then waiting to use the inside ones, and the bars can again suffer from the same overcrowding problems. Another issue is with the sound quality in the main ramp room, it's pretty poor to say the least.

These issues aside though Motion is a suprisngly good night. With 3 dance floors, 3 bars and an outside smoking area there's plenty of areas to move between and the shear size of the main room and quality of the DJs/artists make up for the previously mentioned flaws.

Recent acts at motion have included 'Massive Attack', 'Etienne de Crecy', 'Layo & Bushwacka!', 'Darren Emerson' (Underworld) and 'Audio Bullys'. Motion also hosts regular Drum & Bass and psychedelic trance nights.

Overall if want a night of underground dance music in a massive warehouse like venue, then Motion is a great place to go.
