Timbuk 2
Timbuk 2 has some of the best techno, electro and house nights in Bristol thanks partly due to its small cellar like rooms and secondly thanks to the quality of the DJs.
The club consists of 2 bars, 2 dance floors, and about 3 small seating/chill-out areas. Although this may sound like a lot, Timbuk 2 still feels pretty enclosed so you’re probably going to have to squash up against a few people if you want to move around in this place.
The upstairs floor has the bigger and slightly busier bar of the two selling the usual shots and drinks, and coming off this room is the upstairs dance floor which is often a bit on the quite side until the place fills up. The music upstairs is generally more commercial then downstairs.
The downstairs area has a tunnel-like dance floor with 3 rooms coming off it. The larger of the rooms (which also has a bar) can sometimes be closed on quieter nights. The only real annoyance with Timbuk 2 is the location of the DJ booth (situated against the side wall) which results in everyone having to move via the crowded areas of the dance floor to get to the quieter ones. This can be especially frustrating when the downstairs bar is shut so more people have to push there way between the upstairs and downstairs. The great atmosphere downstairs more then makes up for this though.
All in all Timbuk 2 is a good choice if you like style of the music and fancy a night on the dance floor.
